[Taiwan] Cherry blossoms in Taiwan

To share information about places to visit in Taiwan with non-locals was one of the main reasons this blog started. This purpose never has changed, but today while it suddenly occurred to me that: I’m seeing a lot of cherry blossoms recently…god! What have I missed to include in my blog!!!
So…here we go: I’m listing as many places as possible for you to enjoy cherry blossom in Taiwan.

Taiwan’s cherry blossom season

From February to April

📌Keep in mind that even if it’s not cherry blossom season, below most places are still 100% worth a visit if you are looking for a day/ weekend trip to escape from the busy city.

Cherry blossom’s in Taipei

Neihu Bishanyan

Bishanyan is uber famous spot for its night scene of Taipei and with Taipei 101 right in front of you.

After climbing those 460 steps you will find the Kaizhang Shengwang Temple and there you can see the city lights. Sakura flowers can be seen on your way up to the temple.

Tianyuan temple cherry blossom

I would say that this is the most famous cherry blossom spot in Taipei. As a student studying for 4 years in Tamsui, every spring you can see the crowd queuing outside Tamsui Metro station to change into a bus for Tianyuan temple. Even without the sakura flowers, Tianyuan temple itself is totally worth your visit if you are coming to Tamsui, let alone when it’s covered by cherry blossoms!

Tamsui recommendation for cafe lovers:
Cafe by the river- La vie Rêvée des Anges

How do I get from Taipei to Tianyuan temple?

Take Taipei metro red line till the final stop-Tamsui station and get out at exit 2. Turn right and keep going forward and you will see a pile of bus standing by. You can take buses with number 866, 875, 893, 876, 877 and get off at Tianyuan gong/ Tianyuan temple stop.
