Terrazza del Pincio

This is the most crowded spot among all Terrazas listed here.
Since you got Piazza del Popolo right in front of you, there is a good reason.

Facing Piazza del Popolo, behind you is the 3rd biggest park in Rome-Villa Borghese. If you are a big walker (no, I don’t mean like the ones in The Walking Dead), after exposing yourself several hours in the Phytoncide-Villa Borghese, then head to terrazza del Pincio to see the best view of Rome of Piazza del Popolo sounds like a perfect combo to me.

On the day we visited, except for the crowds who were there to enjoy the pleasant view, we saw..no, actually we Heard this guy popping out from the crowd with his microphone. Judge him yourself

Terrazza Viale del Belvedere

On your way down to Piazza del Popolo, here is another Terraza, less crowded and singer-free

Fontana dell’Acqua Paola

I know I know, we are talking about Sunset in Rome not Fountain right? But what if you get to have both in 1 package?
Right across Fontana dell’Acqua Paola is another platform with a view of Rome.

Funny to say, we visited this fountain more than Trevi Fountain
I love its calmness and the fountain just behind is just perfect for someone who loves to take photos( like me ), crowd-free!!!
With the residence of the Spanish embassy aside, sometimes you’ll find several Spaniards sitting on the edge chatting and enjoying the view. Envyಠ_ಠ

Don’t hesitate! Keep your ass moving up the hill and you will find

Janiculum Terrace

From the fountain to these 4 other spots below I will include all of them in 1 section because you can easily (or not that easy) finish them in 1 single visit, as we did.
Janiculum Terrace is the highest point, but as you can tell from the pic, the view is not “that unobstructed” as I expected.

No worries, keep heading another way down (I hate walking the same old route)

By chance, if you fancy a cup of coffee before heading home, this is a platform with a tiny coffee shop beside it.
You’ll find plenty of people joining you, enjoying the sunset with a cup of coffee in hands.
Of course, you may start from this terraza (and a cup of coffee) then visit all the above places the other way around.

Giardino degli Aranci

Since we live in this barrio-Testaccio, supposedly we should be visiting this giardino more! And we didI think a bit more than 3 times.
From the fact that every time we visit, we were accompanied by not that few people, you can say that this Orange garden on top of Trastevere is no longer a secret and once we even bumped into Roman’s casual meet up, a group of 20ish, parents chatting by the side and kids playing soccer.

On your way, you might see a weird sight which people are queuing outside a green door, but not to get in, but to take turns to look through the “keyhole” and take a picture through “the keyhole“.

The first time I saw this, I thought it was just some famous attraction that people missed earlier so they still need to “make it for the gram”. It was just too weird to see it again the second time we came, so I finally googled what is that “attraction”!
So that “keyhole” obviously is the attraction!
It’s called Knights of Malta Keyhole (google)which you can see Saint Peter’s Basilica perfectly right through the hole!

Personally, after I discovered that I can book a taxi safely in advance for my trip, this is always my First choice! After the taxi driver charged me an extra 20 euro right in front of my eyes(according to the taximeter), I always prefer to book and pay in advance, and the driver would be waiting for me at the airport.

I am including this in my post because I can still clearly remember that I had a horrible day that night and I was crying in the airbnb like hell and wanted everyone to leave me alone. Somehow my boyfriend managed to get me out of the apartment and showed me this.(I know I know, he’s wonderful(╯▽╰ ))
Haha, I mean, even with my watery eyes and shitty mood still about to sob out loud, in normal case I believe no one will be in the mood to take any photo, but I didhow can I not!

Around 5~7 min walk from the above ruin sight you will be in Capitoline hill which I highly recommend you to make a stop also.

Belvedere di Via Piccolomini

This is my personal favorite spot, but not because of my close interaction with the dog’s up here (allow me to tell you later).

In the first photo, you can see that on this “via piccolomini” the San Pietro is at the end of the road.
There is a secret about this road which all Romans know:
as you walk ahead towards San Pietro, the closer you get, the smaller San Pietro seems.

Can you tell from the picture? In fact, I am not putting this as my favorite spot because of this reason(I only know it now while I am getting some additional info for this post), but because the view of this whole street with San Pietro at the end is just something you shouldn’t miss and the observation platform has nearly no people when we were there! (Just watch out the
